Adeline Alvina Lipp

November 29, 1916 — November 1, 2012

Adeline Alvina (Vondrachek) Lipp, age 95, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2012 at the Gardens at Sebring Assisted Care Residence in Madison, WI.

Adeline was born November 29, 1916 in Reedsville, WI to Alvina and Joseph Vondrachek. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Milwaukee. Adeline married her husband of 34 years, Clarence Lipp, on November 13, 1945. They honeymooned in Mercer, WI where they built and operated Lipp's Gateway Lodge together for the next 33 years. Adeline's life adventures with Clarence took her from Chicago to Detroit, MI to Wisconsin and even to Antwerp, Belgium, where they lived with their family for nearly two years.

Adeline was deeply devoted to her family and her faith. She was a lifelong member of St. Isaac Jogues and Companions Catholic Church in Mercer, WI where she served on the Altar Society. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary #9536 and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her later years, she was affectionately known as "the moccasin lady" at the Wampum Shop in Mercer. She was unendingly generous to any charity that asked. She loved nature and all the wildlife near her northern Wisconsin home. An avid reader throughout her life, Adeline loved to read - anything and everything - biographies, novels, history, travel books and anything written about her faith and the lives of the saints. She passed her love of books on to all her kids. Adeline moved gracefully through everything that life brought her. Her unconditional love and acceptance was a blessing to everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings (Ann Vondrachek, Charles Vondrachek, Mary Cherf, Joseph Vondrachek, Bernard Vondrachek, Paul Vondrachek, Marcella Morris and Monica Manino) and the love of her life, her husband Clarence Lipp.

Adeline will be greatly missed by the family she loved so much. She is survived by her four children: Clarence H. (Judith) Lipp, George P. Lipp, Mary (Robert) Muhlberger and Patricia Lipp-Strayer (Donald Strayer). She is also survived by David Gentile, who she loved like a son. Adeline had 13 grandchildren: Gregory (Tammy)Vemmer, Elizabeth Lipp, Staff Sgt. Joseph Lipp, Amy Lipp Reed (Osmond Reed), Ryan Mikula, Sarah Gentile, Gino Gentile, Kathryn Alvina Gentile, Jennifer (Luke)Tornow, Matthew Muhlberger, Brandon (Jill)Strayer, Roderick (Monique) Strayer and Christine (Nicholaus)Squires, 22 great-grandchildren: Logan Vemmer, Lindsey Vemmer, Lether Meyer, Jesse Meyer, Lisa Manning, James (Brittny) Gerig, Amanda Gerig, Jacob Hoffman, Jessica Lipp, who is also Adeline's God-daughter, Jasmine Lipp, Apollo Reed, Odin Reed, Dakota Tornow, Ty Tornow, Lillian Strayer, Claire Strayer, Evelyn Strayer, Alaina Strayer, Jon Squires, Ivy Squires, Michael Squires and Isabella Squires, and 6 great-great- grandchildren: Gavyn & Carsyn Jo Gerig, Treyton, Cayden, & Mason Buhk, & Maiah Manning.
