Beverly Balakhovsky of Madison, WI passed away on February 22 at the age of 83.

Born on January 19, 1943 in St.Louis, MO she was the daughter of Morris and Cecelia (Balch) Beitch. She was raised in University City, MO. She received her higher education of Bachelors and Masters degrees at Washington University, Berkeley and the University of Missouri. She was known for her kindness, consideration, determination and devotion to family and friends.

Although educated as a biologist and having worked in that field, she spent most of her worklife as a financial manager. She retired from Wisconsin State Service as the Department of Corrections Director of Financial and Administrative Services. She was a talented artist. She was devoted to reading and to planting and tending flowers.

She is survived by Robert Cadigan, her companion of 51 years; her children, Jay Gralnick (Jeanette) of St Albans VT, Sari Hunt (Vance) of Madison WI; her grandchildren, Josef Awadalla, Sofi Awadalla, Kerianna Gralnick, and Corbin Gralnick: and her new great grandchild, Layan. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her siblings Norman and Harriet.

Per her request there will be no funeral service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Agrace Hospice or to the UW Carbone Cancer Center. She will be greatly missed by many.
