Caryl Jean (Fandre) Keip, age 94, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 22, 2026. She was born on July 4, 1931, in Edgar, Wisconsin to Martin and Alma (Radloff) Fandre. Caryl always said the only thing that she wanted written about her was that she was born and she died but her family believes her friends might enjoy knowing a little more about her. Caryl grew up on a small farm in Edgar, which she loved, and she remained there with her family until graduating from high school. She later moved to Madison, where she attended Madison Business College. After graduation she began her career as an Executive Secretary at the Madison Mechanical Contractor Union. Caryl thrived in this role, loved what she did and took great pride in her position and remained there until her retirement in 1995. On May 25, 1957, Caryl married Walter Keip and they were married for 40 years until Walter’s passing on December 5, 1997. Caryl loved her family and was especially proud of her sons and her grandsons and all they accomplished. Caryl will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandma, and aunt to many. She was a very classy lady, wonderful cook and baker, and her family will always remember her delicious praline cake that she made for many birthday celebrations over the years. She is survived by her sons: Steven (Dan Ploessl) Keip of Waunakee, James Keip of Mt Horeb, and Larry (Kristi) Keip of Waunakee: her grandsons Alex Keip of San Francisco and Jason (Emily) Keip of Verona; and many nieces, nephews, their spouses and children. Caryl was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Keip: her sisters and their husbands: Bernadine (Henry) Borchardt, Elna (Ben) Moser and Janet (John) Brown; her sister in-laws and their husbands, Dorthy Schoenherr, Esther Bradley, Ruth (Harold) Koerner and Beatrice (Charles) Albertz; and her brothers In-Law and their spouses, Elmer Keip, Rueben (Doris) Keip, Lester (Eileen) Keip and John (Elaine) Keip. A memorial service celebrating Caryl’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Lakeview Lutheran church, 4001 Mandrake Rd, Madison, Wi. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00am until the time of service with lunch provided after the service. A special thank-you to Caryl’s niece, Traci Paul, for all the love, care and companionship she gave Caryl over the past several years and to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Meriter Hospital for the compassionate care they provided in Caryl’s final days.
