David Bruce Huxley

David Bruce Huxley, age 74, peacefully passed away early Monday morning January 12th, 2026, in Monona, WI. David was born October 15th, 1951, in Roseville, MI to parents Frank Huxley and Anne (Dickson) Huxley. He enjoyed a lively childhood with his four “bros”: Michael, Paul (Cynthia), Ken (Cindy), and Thomas “Chip”.

David graduated from Roseville High School, MI in 1969. He made his way to Wisconsin and spent 20 years with the Madison Police Department. David married his wife Lois “Cookie” Richmond on August 8th, 1992 at the Olbrich’s rose garden in Monona, WI. David retired from the Madison Police Department and went on to become an Episcopal priest. While being a priest, David and his wife first started in Wisconsin, moved to Oklahoma and Texas before making their way back to Wisconsin. David cherished his “work weeks” with the bros in De Toure, MI at their family cabin. He enjoyed staying active with many games of mini golf, long walks and biking. One of David’s favorite parts of the UP was visiting Mackinac Island. David was an avid reader and had a lust for knowledge. Above all else, David loved helping others, bringing people together and spending time with his loved ones. David was strong in his faith and lived by the lord. He spent many hours providing help at food shelters, church events, as well as the spaghetti dinners for college students.

David is survived by his loving wife, Cookie; children, Jennifer (Peter) Knecht, Chana (Michael) Godden, Teresa Brommer, and Ron Nelson; grandchildren, Ari, Will, Talia, Tyler (Sam), Tara(Gidian), Ashley (Chris) and four great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his dog, Shelley.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anne Huxley; his father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Esther Richmond; brothers-in-law, Butch and Gene Richmond, and Dan Moe.

Per David’s wishes no formal service will be held. David will be laid to rest by family in De Toure, MI. David’s family would like to thank Monona Heritage Memory Care and Meriter Hospital for their care and compassion.
