David Litch Leyda

David Litch Leyda died on Oct 14, 2023. He was born on August 4, 1935, to Mildred and C. Phillip Leyda of Hillsboro, WI. David served honorably in the US Army during peacetime where he played trombone in the Army band. 

David owned a tree farm in Richland County and later founded Leyda Lumber in Madison, WI in the 1980s. In his later life, he was a large supporter of many local libraries, was an avid reader, traveler and loved by everyone he met. 

He is survived by his daughters Fiona and Samantha of Sydney Australia from his first marriage, and his sister Ann Sowaske of Madison, WI. He is further survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother James P. Leyda (1940-2015) and his second wife Jeanne Leyda (2012) 

Per his wishes, there will be no visitation. In lieu of cards or gifts, a donation to your local library would be the best way to honor his memory.
