Dennis Joseph Rinzel

March 18, 1946 — September 8, 2017

MADISON - Dennis Joseph Rinzel, 71, of Madison, Wisconsin, went to be with the Lord on September 8, 2017 after suffering a massive stroke.
Dennis will be remembered by many as a man whose unconditional love and sincere warmth rippled well beyond those he came into contact with. His booming laughter, infectious smile, combined with the ever-present twinkle in his eyes, brightened every soul who crossed his path. He generously extended kindly hugs to anybody within arms-reach.
Last August, Dennis celebrated 39 years of marriage with the love of his life, Kathy. He often acknowledged that the most cherished times of his marriage to Kathy was their daily prayer time together.
A proud, loving and intensely devoted father, Dennis's legacy lives on thru his 6 children, their spouses, and 4 crazy grandkids. His faithful, unwavering commitment to his children's personal, academic and athletic achievements was manifested in his ever-present encouragement and support.
Dennis was a jack of all trades as well as a drummer, singer, videographer, florist, and just about anything else you could think of!
Dennis worked at UW Madison (Go Bucky!) for 40 years in media. As a retiree, Dennis enjoyed gardening, caring for his grandkids, and selflessly volunteering his time. Devout and steadfast in his Christian faith, Dennis served as both an elder at Ridgeway Church and as a cantor at St. Peters Catholic Church. Dennis was a passionate follower of Jesus Christ. The love of God was apparent and poured throughout his life. The top of Dennis' to do list each day was to seek first God's kingdom and to put people before things.
Dennis is survived by his brother Don Rinzel (Sandy), sister Dianne Ostrowski (the late Don), beloved wife Kathy Rinzel, their children: Micah Rinzel (Jill), Judah Rinzel (Jena), Uriah Rinzel (Abigail), Jesse Rinzel (Lucinda), Tirzah Kyle (Juan), Justina Rinzel, and grandchildren, Levi, Annika, Alice, and Maximus Rinzel.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday 16th at St. Peters at 11:00 a.m., visitation from 9:00 a.m. till time of service.
Memorials can be made to Samaritan's Purse or Outreach for World Hope.
