Donald and Carol Doerfler

Donald G. Doerfler, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 29, 2015, after a brief bout with cancer. Carol J. Doerfler, 80, passed quietly and without regret on Saturday, January 30th, 2016, after an extended battle with chronic lung disease.

Don & Carol were childhood sweethearts who celebrated life and 61 years of marriage together. Both were born in Milwaukee, WI and raised their family near Columbus, WI, with retirement years spent in Portage, WI.

They were preceded in death by their daughter Julie (Rose) and survived by their two sons: Chris and Tim (and wife Kari) of Verona, WI and two grandchildren: Matthew and Jake.

Don was a warm-hearted and devoted family man that is remembered for his love of playing guitar in his German folk music band and for his hobby of collecting all types of knickknacks and Americana. Carol was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and lively debates on politics and current news topics.

Both will be missed but not forgotten. They are together again just in time for Valentine's Day, no doubt continuing the discussions where they left off and enjoying each other's company.

The family honored the deceased wishes for cremation, with a life celebration planned for a later date.
