Doris Irene Gray

DEFOREST - Doris Irene Gray, of DeForest, Wis., died Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. Doris was born in Belfield, ND on April 20, 1919, the daughter of Espy and Elizabeth Keith. With her father working in farming the family relocated several times. Doris had memories of having lived in Amboy, Minn., Irvington, Iowa, and later Cambria, Dalton and Pardeeville, Wis., where she met and married her future husband, Ralph Gray, on April 6, 1936. They had seven children, Robert Gray (deceased), Sandra (Bruce) Wilke, Keith (Pat) Gray, Pamela (Charles) Flad, Richard (Shannon) Gray, Cherlyn (Terry) Welsh and Ronnie (Yolanda) Gray.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; her son, Robert; her brother, Ronald; her sister, Naomi; and her dear friend, Norm Fedkenhauer.
Doris and Ralph lived most of their married life in Lodi and later in DeForest, Wis. In her career Doris was employed by Oscar Mayer, Mendota, DeForest Nursing Home and, into her seventies as a waitress at the I-90/HWY 51 truck stop. Doris, like her father, was an avid Euchre player and enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos and baking for family and friends. Doris will be missed by her children, grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Windsor United Church of Christ, Windsor, Wis. Dessert and coffee will follow the service.
