Ella Lorena (Zinke) Poullette passed away January 28, 2013 at Oakwood Village, Madison WI at age 100.

She was a teacher in a one-room school until her marriage to Philip Poullette in 1937. She retired from her teaching career as principal of Riverview school in Wautoma WI.

She was active in her community: O.E.S. (Worthy Matron, pianist/organist, president of the Past Worthy Matrons Club), American Legion Auxiliary (president), Wautoma Women's Club (program chairperson), 7th District Federated Woman's Clubs (Art Chairperson), EUB Church (Women's Circle President, chair of Sunday school, teacher, pianist, organist, youth choir director), Rural Rembrandts (president for 2 years), United Methodist Church (member for 54 years, organist, choir director for 10 yrs), Waushara County Retired Teachers Association (charter member and Treasurer), Professional Business Women (member for 5 years). She was a piano teacher, the solicitation chair for the new hospital, and a founding member of the Waushara County Historical Society Museum.

Late in life Ella discovered her talent for art and found great joy in working creatively with her hands. Her mediums included oil and acrylics (prize-winning paintings), clay (artful and useful pottery), yarn (wall-hangings, afghans, baby blankets - all original designs) and dough (famous beautiful breads). Her artistic creations are much loved, and still give pleasure to many.

Ella is survived by her daughters, Sue Poullette of Madison WI and Phyllis "Paullette" (Frank) MacDougal of Austin TX; grandsons, Colin (Vanessa) MacDougal of Austin TX and Michael of Morristown NJ; great-grandchildren: Veronika, Calvin, Justin of Austin TX; Hallie and Morgan of Morristown NJ; sister, Erma Daye of Ripon WI; sister-in-law, Marjorie Poullette of Wautoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ella was born October 29, 1912 in Richford (Waushara County WI), the eldest daughter of Albert and Pauline (Janke) Zinke. Ella was preceded in death by her husband Philip Theodore Poullette in 1986; sisters, Nina Draeger and Vira Foemmel, and brother, John Zinke.

There will be a memorial service on March 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at OAKWOOD VILLAGE Resurrection Chapel, 6201 Mineral Point Rd, Madison, with Chaplain Martha Nack and the Rev. Kenneth Engelman presiding. There will be a private interment service at Wautoma Cemetery, the Rev. James Scorgie presiding.

Ella loved living at Oakwood the last ten years of her life and greatly appreciated the wonderful care she received from the staff this past year.

Ella brought a smile to those she touched. She was a dear, kind, sweet woman who will be dearly missed.
