Franziska Walty

Franzi Walty, aged 83, died peacefully in Madison on November 4, 2023. She was born in Zirndorf,
Germany on December 16, 1939, the daughter of Otto and Anna Reigel. She graduated in Zirndorf,
married a serviceman and moved to the United States in 1959. She embraced the U.S. as her
new homeland and became a citizen in the 1960s. She loved the political process and never passed up
an opportunity to vote.

Franzi worked for Ray-O-Vac for more than 30 years as an accounting clerk. When she retired from there,
she worked for WPS as a claims adjuster. She loved working and enjoyed many of the people she met at
work, both while working and outside of work.

Franzi loved her family and was very loyal. One of her favorite things was to cook Sunday dinner and
have her family surrounding the dinner table. She could always be counted on to help anyone she loved
in need. Anyone close to her knew if they had a problem, they could count on her and she would help
them muddle through whatever situation they found themselves in. She will be greatly missed.

Franzi is survived by her siblings: Hella Mauger and Michael Riegel. Her children: Charles Walty and
Marie Caldwell. Her grandchildren: Jeff (Leitia) Walty and Emily Caldwell. Her great grandchildren: Dante,
Alyssa, Devon, Deanna and Myla Walty.

She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Karin and Harold McDaniel, and her sister
Betty Meadors.

A service will be held St Paul’s Liberty Lutheran Church in Deerfield at 3pm on Saturday, November 18th.  A fellowship gathering will follow at the Deerfield Community Center.

The family asks any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
