Gail F. Procarione

1931 - 2017

Gail F. Procarione, 85, passed away peacefully the evening of April 22, 2017, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. He was born in Kenosha on April 25, 1931 to John and Anne (Savant) Procarione, Sr. He attended St. James Elementary School, and graduated from Bradford High School in 1949.

Gail served in the U.S. Army (Korea) from 1952-1954. He married Joanne Getschman in 1954, and had one daughter, Lynne. Gail graduated with an accounting degree from the UW Milwaukee in 1958. Gail and Joanne parted amicably in 1979.

Gail worked at Outboard Marine Co. for 10 years, and was then hired in 1968 as the City of Kenosha Clerk-Treasurer. He retired from that position after 28 years, and was a long-time member of the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association and the Municipal Treasurers Association of Wisconsin.

Gail loved golf, and in retirement played several times a week until his health slowed him down two years ago. He worked out at the UW Parkside Sports and Activity Center and took daily walks by the lake until shortly before his death. He was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling, including trips to Mexico, Hawaii, St. Thomas, and Alaska. He served on the boards of the Friends of the Kenosha Public Museums, the Kenosha City Employees Credit Union, and Kenosha Youth Development Services and volunteered for many museum events. He also volunteered with the United Hospital System.

And he enjoyed visiting Lynne and Peter's farm in Black Earth several times a year to help with farm chores... Right, Dad?

Gail was preceded in death by his parents, and brother John Procarione Jr.

Gail is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Lynne and Peter Weil of Black Earth, nephews John (Mary) and Jim (Diane) Procarione, and their children, Katie, Lauren, Jamie, Andrea, and Cyrus. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Esther Everson, and his ex-wife Joanne Johnson.

He is also survived by dear friend and golf partner Shari Krewson, and many, many friends in Kenosha.

A celebration of life will be held at Freedom Hall in the Kenosha Civil War Museum on Wednesday April 26, at 5:30 p.m. with a brief memorial at 6 p.m. Please share light snacks and refreshments with us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Friends of the Kenosha Public Museums or the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
