Gerard Gilbert

Madison - Gerard F. Gilbert passed away at the age of 76, on December 28, 2011, at home surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was the son of Reaul and Gladys Gilbert of Pittsfield, MA.
Jerry was born in Pittsfield, MA on June 6, 1935. He attended Cranwell Prep in Lennox, MA and went to Holy Cross College in Worchester, MA. He served as a Captain in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1958-1960. He was an executive in pharmaceutical development with Hoffman La Roche Pharmaceuticals and Anaquest.
Jerry received a liver transplant in 1989 at UW Hospital and he was the longest living transplant recipient of the UW program.
He met Constance Nizolek on a blind date; they married in Greenwich, CT on June 14, 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Connie (Nizolek); three children, Jerry of Morganville, NJ, Lynn ( Richard) of Treasure Island, FL and Dan (Lisa) of Scottsdale, AZ; along with four grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Skylar and Eva. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Helen Nizolek, Ken and Joan Nizolek and many nieces, nephews and very dear friends.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to the University of Wisconsin Transplant team and Agrace Hospice care givers.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Florida.
