Herbert Riedner passed away at the age of 75 at his Madison home on March 31, 2023. Herb was born on March 10, 1948, in Braunschweig, Germany as one of four boys to Edmund and Elsa Riedner. In 1956, Herb and his family immigrated to the United States, and they eventually settled in Racine, WI.
After graduating from Horlick High School and Gateway Technical College, Herb pursued higher education at UW-Stout, where he graduated in 1971. He dedicated his entire 33-year teaching career to the Fond du Lac School District, where he taught at Theisen, Goodrich, and Fond du Lac High School. Herb was an outdoor enthusiast and spent many of his summers exploring national parks and forests with his friends and family. In addition, he was an avid birder and an accomplished woodworker, spending countless hours in his workshop creating beautiful pieces of furniture.
Herb is survived by his loving and supportive wife, Carol A. (Goetz), with whom he spent 51 years of marriage; his son, Eric, daughter-in-law Meghann, and granddaughter, Natalie, who reside in Madison; his daughter, Rebecca, who lives in Breckenridge, CO, with her life partner, Shane Nay, and granddaughters Alexa and Nova. Additionally, Herb is survived by his three brothers: Helmut Riedner (Ursula) of Edmonton, Canada, Horst Riedner (Ginny) of California, and Manfred Riedner, also of California.
