John M. Wynne

May 3, 1939 — May 14, 2023

John M. Wynne, 84, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023, concluding a remarkable life lived with love and accomplishments. Formerly of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, John was the loving husband of Hope, nee Hoblit; proud father of Ron (Deb), Marc (Nancy), and Sue (Jon); fond grandfather of Noah, Ben, Meghan, John Patrick, Jane, Joey, Zach, Sam, and Katie; great-grandfather of eight; and brother of Paul.  John was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 3, 1939, to the late Commander Walter M. Wynne and Frances, nee Hayes.  Although one can move out of Brooklyn, Brooklyn never moves out of you.  You are always a Dodgers fan, you always have a Brooklyn accent and of course, the Brooklyn attitude.  This was true of John.  With his father’s technical and command background combined with his mother’s style and sense of humor, John would produce some amazing results.

After graduating from Red Bank Catholic High School, John earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (formerly Newark School of Engineering) in 1963, and in 1970 received his M.B.A. with a major in Marketing at Seton Hall University.  John began his scientific career in New Jersey, then Madison, Wisconsin, developing and manufacturing anesthesia.  John was instrumental in designing and supervising the construction of manufacturing facilities to produce anesthetic agents enflurane, isoflurane and sevoflurane worldwide.  John had a clear knowledge of chemical processing, regulatory aspects of conducting clinical trials and interfacing with the FDA, and contributed greatly to the scientific community in the synthesis of anesthetic products.  John concluded his career as President and Chief Executive Officer of Inhalon Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.

John was an unwavering fan of baseball, playing when younger and following the game throughout his life.  John thoroughly enjoyed travel, English comedies, crossword puzzles and genealogy, and if conversation involved news or the stock market, John likely knew the answer.  John was loved by family and lifelong friends and will be missed by all.  John will always have a special place in our hearts and we are grateful and blessed with so many wonderful memories!
