Karen Ann Heim, 82, of Cross Plains, formerly of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Karen was born on September 26, 1943 in Milwaukee to Joseph and Helen (Woida) Kelnhofer. She attended St. Rita’s Grade School and graduated from Mercy High School. After graduating, Karen attended MITC in Milwaukee. On November 14, 1964, Karen married Thomas R. Heim in West Allis, and together they raised two children on the North side of Madison. For over 29 years, Karen worked as a secretary at Dean Business Office until March of 2006.

Karen was a faithful member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Madison and was active in their Lady’s Guild at the church.

She enjoyed traveling to Ft. Myers Beach, going out to eat, spending time with her grandchildren, raising yellow labs, shopping, and watching sports including The Badgers, The Packers, and The Mallards.

Karen is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Heim; son, Tom, his wife Denise, and their daughters Megan McKeough and her husband Haydn, and Maddie Heim, Daughter, Annnie Heim-Rowe, her husband Steve Rowe, and her son Billy Wood. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Kelnhofer, sisters-in-law Audrey Heim and Sara Kierzek, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Helen Kelnhofer, and her brothers Joseph and Mark, brother-in-law Dave Heim, sister-in-law Agnes Kelnhofer, and niece Cecelia Feeley

Visitation will be at St. Peters Church, 5001 N. Sherman Ave Madison on July 30, 2026 from 1-3pm with mass to follow.

Private interment will be at a later date.
