Linda Jo Contreras

Linda Jo Contreras, 67, passed away on 2/15/24 in her apartment in Madison, WI. She was the widowed wife of Charles Raymond Contreras. They shared many years of marriage, partnership, and love together. She is survived by her son, Sam Jo Contreras. 

Lynn was the adopted and loved daughter of Arnold and Joanne Singles. She graduated high school and proudly attended some college with dreams of becoming a substance abuse counselor. Though Lynn was disabled most of her life due to a factory work injury, she worked her entire life as a loving mother and wife. 

Lynn proudly supported animal rights organizations of all varieties, LGBT+ organizations, and organizations actively supporting our BIPOC communities. Lynn adored her cats, enjoyed true crime television, and her love knew no bounds. She will be remembered as everyone’s mother; the woman in the neighborhood who acted as a parent to everyone, provided a home to everyone, a warm meal and a loving hug to everyone. 

Lynn did not want any services in her honor, but rather to be cremated and have her ashes combined with those of her husband, Chuck. At some point in the future, their ashes will be spread together across places they loved. 

Memorial donations may be made to Red Clover Tattoo Collective, a local indigenous and queer owned and operated tattoo and healing space. Lynn was deeply in love with this place, attended art sales there, owned art from these artists, adored her son’s tattoos from this space, and wholly supported their mission and messages.
