Lucetta Caroline Kanetzke

Lucetta C. Kanetzke, age 89, passed away on May 26, 2026. Born to Rev. Carl W. and Alice Bloedow, she grew up in Evansville and Oconomowoc.

Attending UW Madison, Lucetta met her husband Howard while earning their degrees. After college, they remained in Madison and raised their three children in Crestwood. Lucetta pursued a second degree at MATC Madison, where she refined her natural artistic talents. Family and friends cherish her drawings and paintings, and the jewelry she made and generously gifted to many.

Lucetta was creative, and shared her many forms of art with family, community, and church. She had a beautiful singing voice. In addition to singing in the church choir, she was a member of the Middleton Civic Chorus for several years. Together, she and Howard performed programs of Wisconsin music around the state.

Lucetta and Howard were founding members of the Madison UCC Community of Hope, where their faith was shared and expressed through community, music, and helping others.

For 68 years, Lucetta was a wonderful wife to Howard, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, brother Paul Bloedow, and beloved son Neil Kanetzke. She is survived by her brother Phill (Candi) Bloedow; by daughters Laurel (Chuck) Zeier and Laura Adams; daughter in law Sherry Kanetzke; grandchildren Kevin Zeier (Marta Bittner); Cina Barlow; Angel Perron (Jason Hendrickson); Katrina (Dave) Bennett; Adam Kanetzke (Jenny Weiss); and 5 great-grandchildren.

Lucetta's family would like to express special gratitude to her wonderful Pastor, Jen Petricia Bloesch, to the kind and caring staff of Halowstone Middleton, to UW Home Based Primary Care, and Bristol Hospice RN Stephanie.

Lucetta was cherished by her family, friends, and extended families at Hallowstone and Community of Hope/Madison Christian Community.

She will be remembered for her creativity, her enjoyment of puzzles, her kind heart, and her hugs.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 8th, at Community of Hope, 7118 Old Sauk Rd, Madison. Visitation at 10:00, service at 11:00.
