Mentel, Mary J. (nee Frohna)

Formerly of Waterford and Greenfield, WI died peacefully April 17, 2014 at the age of 71 at Oak Park Place, Madison, WI. Beloved wife of the late John F. Mentel. Loving Mother of Janet (Wayne) Vandenbergh and Steve (Heather) Mentel. Proud grandmother of Jacob, Katherine and Grace.

Further survived by brothers Ron, Tom and Jim Frohna and their families, other special family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Phyllis Frohna.

Mary worked for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as a Catholic School teacher, primarily at St. Alexander school for many years. She married John F. Mentel on July 16, 1966 in Milwaukee.

She will always be remembered for her lovely singing voice, sparkly smile and love of music. She loved her grandchildren more than anything; nothing brought her more joy.

A special thank you to the staff at Oak Park Place - The Arbors and the Autumn Lane memory care unit. Thank you also to the staff of Heartland Hospice for the care, comfort and support they offered all of us as well as to our family and friends for all of their support and prayers.

Services will be held Friday May 2, at 11:00AM at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 3160 South 63rd Street Milwaukee, WI 53219. Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00AM Friday in Church. Inurnment at St. Adalbert Cemetery to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin 517 North Segoe Rd., Suite 301, Madison, WI would be appreciated.
