Mary Catherine Schachte

Mary C. Schachte, age 87, of Madison, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on August 26, peacefully at home as she wished from lung cancer. She was born in Madison on July 28, 1939, the daughter of Norbert and Lillian (Kurt) Schachte. Mary was a 1957 graduate of Central High School and a member of St. Dennis Church.

Mary was a big race fan, traveling to the Daytona 500 and to the Michigan International Speedway for NASCAR racing. Every Friday night she would go to Madison International Speedway with her friends and sit in the stands on turn number 4. Occasionally she would take her nieces and nephews. She loved her family, animals and traveling.

Mary is survived by her sister, Gerri Denson, nieces Anne Marie Schachte, Lynn Oldenburg, Katie Schachte, Melissa Riley. Nephews John, Jeff, and David Schachte, and Scott Denson. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers John and Norb.

Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery with a private family gathering.
