Michael James Torgeson

Michael J. Torgeson, age 65, passed away on July 16, 2026, at the U.W. Hospital. He was born on September 13, 1960, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Richard D. Torgeson and Harriet M. (Haag) Torgeson. Mike graduated from LaFollette High School in 1979. His nickname while growing up was “Torg.” He was a custodial supervisor. He had a special relationship with his parents. He enjoyed going up north with them and especially enjoyed fishing with his dad. He was a jokester who loved getting reactions from people in trying to make them laugh. He was kind, generous, compassionate, and had a great sense of humor. Mike had a knack for art. He was talented at woodworking, drawing, and painting pictures. He loved doing puzzles and crafts and playing board games and cards with friends at Sage Meadow. He was an avid Badger, Brewer, and Packer fan.

Michael is survived by his mother, Harriet M. (Haag) Torgeson. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Torgeson.

A visitation will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 5001 North Sherman Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin, on August 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and a service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Family would like to thank his Sage Meadow family and the U.W. Trauma and Life Support Care Team. He will be deeply missed by his family and his Sage Meadow family. As Harriet would say, “Do you know my son Mike? He’s a good guy.”
