(Phyllis) Yvonne Alan was born on February 24th, 1957, 3rd daughter to Donald E. ("Woody") and Thomasine (Rowntree) Alan at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago, IL. She grew up in Glenview, IL and attended Immanuel New Church School, Midwest Academy High School and graduated from the Academy of the New Church Girls' School in 1975. She earned her BA from Northeastern University with a co-major in French and history. She worked in the Glenview area at several jobs, until she eventually was hired as a teacher splitting her time between Immanuel Church School and Midwest Academy. She had an affinity for teaching students in the early teen state, where her zany sense of humor and quick wit served her well. After she was forced to take an early retirement from teaching due to disability, she moved to Wisconsin to be near her family.
Yvonne was a very talented creative writer. She amused friends, family and co-workers with her annual family calendars, Christmas letters and faculty meeting minutes. After retirement, Yvonne filled her time with jewelry making, knitting, sewing, and other crafts. And, above all, reading.
Yvonne passed away at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI on March 21st after years of health challenges.
She was predeceased by her parents and leaves behind her sisters, Frieda Irene Synnestvedt (Ted Gisske) and Janice (Cedric) Lumsden; nephews, Derrick (Eden) Lumsden and Ian Lumsden (Lydia Hollister); great-nephews, Jack, Christian, Hunter, David, Isaiah; and great-niece Josephine.
