Ray C. Stewart

MADISON-Ray C. Stewart, age 79, passed away on Friday, Mar. 17, 2017, after struggling years with many illness, the latest of which were kidney disease and lymphoma cancer.
Ray was born on Dec. 30, 1937, in Charleston, SC, the youngest of five children, to LeRoy and Nellie Mae (Bergman) Stewart. He was employed at Oscar Mayer in Madison for 35 years and proudly served in the U.S. military retiring with the rank of Master Sargent after 34 years of service.
Ray is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carolyn (Ruppe) Stewart; his son, Mark (Linda) Stewart and their children; daughter, Dana (Doug) Wallin and their family and their mother, Deena Magnuson; step-daughter, Kristin Reeves; his beloved dog, Stewie; and other friends and relatives.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, twins, Arvid and Roy Steward, J.C. Stewart, and Lorrina Stewart; sister-in-law, Fay Stewart; mother-in-law, Margaret Piper; and brother-in-law, James Ruppe.
As Ray requested, there will be no services, but a celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
"God saw you were getting tired and cure was not to be; so he put his arms around you and whispered, 'Come with me.'"
