Rita M Lasse

Rita M. Lasse went on to be with the Lord on September 7, 2024, with her children by her side, after a brave battle with lung cancer. Rita was born November 2, 1945, and grew up in Portage, Wisconsin. She spent her last years in nearby Reedsburg, where she leaves behind several dear friends. Rita is survived by her cherished children, Teri Bemis, Russell Hansen, Chrystal Makurat, Chantelle (Christopher) Ringe, and Amber (Tony Bichanich) Haupt. She is further survived by her grandchildren, who brought her great joy, Steven McWilliams, Kimberly (Gavin) Edmonds, Nathan Vincent, Toni Marie Vincent, Evan Makurat (and his beloved dad, Adam Makurat), Beck Ringe and Brooke Ringe. Rita was also blessed to have her longtime companion, George Fockens, walk life’s road to the end with her. Her dear brothers, Merle (Barb) Holmes and Rick (Ceal) Lasse further survive her, along with many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Hansen, her parents, Wilbert and Hazel (nee Allen) Lasse, her sister, Renee Lasse, and her brother, Robert Holmes. Rita had a gift of seeing beauty in everything, and used this gift to craft a life that was full of meaning and love, even in times of adversity. She will be remembered fondly for her spirit and personality, but most importantly for the love she eagerly gave to others. Interment will take place September 19, 2024, at 12pm at Dekorra Cemetery in Dekorra, Wisconsin, with a memorial meal to follow at the Mackenzie Wildlife and Environmental Center in nearby Poynette. “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8 (ESV)
