Roger W. Smith

Madison - Roger W. Smith, age 72 passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on December 12, 1942, the son of Leonard and Loreen (Beuthin) Smith.

On April 27, 1963, Roger was united in marriage to Antoinette "Toni" Rane at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Madison. Roger spent over 35 years working for the City of Madison streets department, until his retirement. During his retirement Roger loved being a volunteer at Meriter Hospital. He thoroughly enjoyed playing cards, especially poker. He also enjoyed traveling, going to casinos, his dogs, collecting guns and attending gun shows with his brother-in-law, Joe Rane. His family meant so much to him. Roger will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roger is survived by his two children; Sue (Roger) Standorf and Randy (Jennifer Scheib) Smith, two brothers; Gary (Liz) Smith and Len (Janelle) Smith Jr, a special friend Kathy Lulling and his furry friends; Gigi and Josie. He is also survived by many other loving family and dear friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Toni Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2438 Atwood Ave., Madison on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 11:00 am with Father Michael Radowicz presiding. A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 am until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Roger to Agrace HospiceCare Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI 53711.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dowling, Denise Ferguson, the pulmonary department and all the volunteers and staff at Meriter Hospital. Also a dear thank you, to Dr. Kim Kinsley and the staff at Agrace HospiceCare for all the attention and care given to Roger and his family.
