Rose Marie Clearmont

March 3, 1959 — September 2, 2018

ROSE MARIE CLEARMONT - (59) unexpectedly passed away on Sunday September 2, 2018, at UW Hospital in Madison.

Rose was born on March 23, 1959, to Margaret (Maggie) Long (Kluever) and Joseph Aurthur Purdum in Janesville,WI.

Rose graduated from Badger High School in Lake Geneva in 1977.

She married James Peter Clearmont on October 4, 1980. On November 6, 1980, she gave birth to their first son Thomas Ray, who passed away on November 8, 1980. On November 14, 1981 a second son was born, Michael Lee, who passed away on February 9, 1982. Both sons are buried together in Lyons, Wisconsin.

Over the years Rose and Jim became very active with horses. Horses had always been Rose's passion, and she shared that passion with everyone she met. She and Jim would participate in many horse shows across the area. The horses they raised and cared for became the "children" they couldn't have. She could turn a non-horse enthusiast into a horse lover in a short time.

In 1995 Rose was diagnosed with Diabetes, and although this became a hard disease for her to fight, she did not let it stop her from her true passion of horses. She kept training and riding for future shows.

In 2007, as the diabetes progressed, she began dialysis treatments, and again, kept going with the horses. In 2009 she underwent a kidney and pancreas transplant at UW hospital, and a new life for her. She was no longer Diabetic and didn't need to go thru the treatments. In 2012 her body rejected the new organs and she was once again going through many treatments to fight the disease of Diabetes.

She began attending MATC Truax in Madison, in the accounting program. She became very active in the student senate and worked in the cafeteria. She also attended American Inter Continental University. She earned a Bachelors degree in Business Management.

Rose was very active other activities in life such as bowling, counted cross stitch, volunteering at the local food bank and being a part of many different organized groups thru out her life.

Her father Joseph Purdum, her adopted father Richard Kluever, her two sons, Thomas and Michael, and her husband James Clearmont preceded her in death.

She is survived by her mother Margaret Long, Brothers Joe Kluever, Fred Kluever, Ray Long, and sisters Kathy Beloungy (Russ) and Chris Jones (Scott), Nieces, Kari Heacox (Chad) Amanda Whitford, and Flutura Long as well nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Rose requests that donations be made in her honor to the American Horse Rescue or your local food pantry.

She requested to be cremated and her ashes to be interred in the same cemetery as her husband in Union Grove. A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 605 Madison Street, Marshall, WI on Friday, September 7th at 3pm. Friends and family may call from 1 pm until 3 pm.
