Sally M. Munson

WAUNAKEE - Sally McCarthy Munson, age 84, of Waunakee, died on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital, Madison. She was born on Sept. 20, 1931, in Madison, Wis., to DeWitt and Myrtle Baskerville. She graduated from Wisconsin High School and attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis. She was married to Austin Munson on June 13, 1984, in Elm Grove, Wis.

Since 1957, Sally was a breeder of Champion Labrador Retrievers. She was a Board Member of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals from 1974 to 2000, a long-time Board Member for the National Labrador Retriever Club, and a founding Member of Winnebago Retriever Club.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen "Kitty" McCarthy, Michael (Cathy) McCarthy, Patrick (Nicky) McCarthy, Colleen McCarthy (David Michelini), Kevin (Kristi) McCarthy, Kelly McCarthy (Steve Meassick); step children, Erin Finch (Thomas) and Erik (Molly) Munson; brother, Dave (Inez) Baskerville; and sister, Suzie Plater. Sally has 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother-in-law, Steve Plater.

There will be a "Celebration of Life" for Sally on Friday, May 20, 2016, at SHAMROCK ACRES KENNEL, 5227 Highway M, Waunakee, from 3 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Shamrock Acres Kennel in memory of Sally.
