Scott Michael Walker

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our son, Scott Michael Walker, who was taken too soon, on September 11, 2026. Born March 13, 1987, he was best known for his kind, soft and gentle personality, often laced with his signature sarcastic wit. He was a beacon of love and respect, always advocating for peace over violence and constantly reminding his loved ones of how much he loved and cared for them.

Scott lived his life always finding ways to serve, help, and honor others with respect, compassion, and kindness. A constant memory of family and friends alike, he would search high and low to find that special and unique gift for each person on his list. His love was evident in all his interactions.

Throughout his life, Scott valued the importance of family. He was so proud of his large extended family (grandparents, parents, sister, nephew, brother-in-law, aunts/uncles, and long list of cousins). He looked forward to the many large family gatherings. His upbringing at the family cabins on the river led to a love of camping, which he shared with a close and dear friend. His beautiful mind and heart led him to like-minded friends with hearts of gold who shared so many life experiences and events together. Chicago became home, but his connections were strong no matter where he was. We still feel him lounging in his favorite spot in front of our fireplace.

Scott was predeceased by his loving grandparents, John and Mary Lou Walker and Arline Granberg. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Kathleen Walker, his sister, Alyssa Nathan, his brother-in-law Dan Nathan, and his treasured nephew, Elliott Nathan. Scott is also survived by many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins. And his sweet cat Lucy.

He was the sweetest and most devoted son to his Mom, the ever caring and protective big brother to Alyssa, the fun and "willing to sleep on the floor next to Elliott all night long" uncle, as well as a fellow lifelong learner, a sensitive soul, and an antique hound to his Dad. Scott was a proud graduate of UW-Madison, holding degrees in Political Science, Portuguese and Spanish. His dedication to academia was a testament to his passion for knowledge and understanding. His love of languages and reading was a joy to witness. He believed and fought for equal rights and justice. Scott’s greatest legacy is love. His simple lesson, “love is love is love ” speaks to his unwavering belief in the power of love and respect for all. He taught us that everyone is deserving of love, kindness and respect, regardless of their circumstances.

His volunteer work was extremely important to him. He believed in the community impact of Howard Brown. He was a Patient Advisory Council leader, donor, fundraiser and volunteer.

Consistent with Scott’s desire to give to others, his express wish was fulfilled by way of successful organ donation surgery, where he was surrounded by family and friends. It’s hard not to acknowledge that his heart recipient was blessed with the huge, kind heart that Scott was always known for. Several other recipients were blessed as well.

We welcome family and friends to Scott’s Celebration of Life on Monday, October 12th, beginning at 10:00 am with a visitation followed by a service at 11:00 am, at Blackhawk Church, 5935 Astor Dr., Fitchburg, WI 53711. A reception will follow the Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to Howard Brown, whose mission Scott felt strongly about. Scott’s spirit resides in our hearts and he will be remembered and treasured by the Walker family, the Granberg family, the Nathan family and everyone in our lives who he touched.
