Shawn Gregory Maertz

Shawn Gregory Meartz was born on March 5, 1982 in Madison, Wisconsin at Meriter Hospital. Shawn passed away on October 6, 2016 in Middleton, Wisconsin. He is survived by two sons; Tyler and Andrew and their mother Amy, his mother Rachel, his father Gergory, step father Trent, brother Karl, two sisters; Leah and lacy, niece Aubrie and nephew Cayden. Shawn was an amazing father to his boys, they were his whole world. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had an interest in landscaping and construction. Shawn loved the Nascar driver Rusty Wallace. He was a man of many talents. Shawn has a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh and a smile that shined. Shawn and his brother Karl were inseparable, always causing havoc as children as well as adults still were the best of friends, no matter what happened in their lives. The two understood each other like no one else could. Shawn had the disease of addiction and the drugs ended up taking his life to soon. He fought the battle against drugs for quite some time and unfortunately it got the best of him. He never gave up the fight, all it took was one more. Shawn's smile and laugh will be seen and heard for years to come. A time to gather will be held at INFORMED CHOICE FUNERAL & CREMATION ALTERNATIVES, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
