Shawn M. Winkler, age 50, cherished partner, daughter, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away at home on April 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on March 8, 1975, in Clarksville, TN, Shawn touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.

She leaves behind her devoted partner, Matthew O'Donahue; her father, Bob Winkler; her mother, Gladys Grimesey Smith; her stepmother, Beth Winkler; her sister, Tonya Winkler (Josh Lancaster); stepsisters Heather Purcell (Kevin) and Cindy Renderman (Joe); her grandmother, Edna McNurlen; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Shawn was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ken Smith; her grandfather, William McNurlen; and grandparents Jerry and Lola Winkler.

In 2005, Shawn met her life partner, Matthew, and together they shared a passion for traveling, motorcycle riding, gardening and enjoying serene evenings in their backyard with a fire and their beloved dogs. Shawn had a profound love for animals, especially greyhounds. She served as the president of Greyhound Pets of America-Wisconsin and was deeply committed to her fur babies: Ruth, Badge, Bow, Peewee, Liana, Mr. Who, lyah, Super, and Morty, whom she adopted from Underdog in Madison.

Shawn was a woman of many passions, including raising chickens, bird watching, baking, cooking, coloring, reading books and watching movies. Her creativity and zest for life were evident in everything she did.

She held a special bond with her Aunt Nonny (Melody Thomas), whose frequent texts uplifted her spirits, and with her life partner's mother (Sue Guess), with whom she often had heartfelt conversations. Professionally, Shawn was dedicated to her work at Rise Up, where she began in 2007 as an office manager eventually moving to the position of COO, cherishing her job and colleagues.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the UW Carbone Cancer Center, Dr. Spencer, Dr. Nadiminti, nurse Jen, and nurse Kelli L. on F6 for their compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life and gathering will be announced at a later date.
