Steven Michael Olson

MCFARLAND- Steve M. Olson, age 60, of McFarland passed away on February 12, 2018, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, Wi. He was born on June 12, 1957, in Madison, the son of Eldrid T. Olson and Carole A. Collins and beloved stepson of Connie J. Olson.

He married Pat M. (Sargent) Olson on November 26, 1988, in Oregon, WI. He graduated from LaFollette High school and received additional certifications for both CDL Operation & Driver Education Instruction. Steve thoroughly enjoyed driving school bus for St. Dennis School and Cottage Grove schools through Riteway and Durham Services. His favorite route was one in which he quizzed the students on math problems as they rolled down the road. He was the "Go-to Guy" for anything that needed assembly or fixing at Anytime Fitness locations owned by his stepson, Andy. He had the awesome skill of making something out of nothing and was fondly referred to as MacGyver. If there was a problem, he found an answer. He taught both Classroom and Behind the Wheel Driver Education in both Stoughton and Verona communities. He always brought his best to anything he undertook. He was a 7-year survivor of pancreatic cancer. He was a funny, gentle & caring soul who will be greatly missed by his friends and family. We Love You x 10!!!

Survivors include his wife, Pat; stepchildren, Andy (Nichole) Gundlach, Jeni (Gundlach) Knuteson, and Rick Knuteson; grandson, Ricky Knuteson; father, Eldrid T. Olson; stepmom, Connie J. Olson; sisters and brothers-in-law; Bev (Joel) Morrison, Gerry (Laurie) Sargent, Marilyn (Denny) Fuller, Sandy (Jack) Finkel, Mary (John) Harker, Sue (Don) Guess, Shelley (Mike) Schwartz, Julie (Rick) Johnson, Dee (Andy) Casey, and Ron (Lisa) Langer; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by sister, Lori (Ron) Langer; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Jim Anderson; mother, Carole Collins; stepfather, Dale Collins; and mother and father-in-law, Loyal & Catherine Sargent.

Funeral services will be held on February 20, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Rd., McFarland, with a visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be gifted in Steve's name to Agrace Hospice Care or UW Carbone Cancer Center.
