Trauta Benner of Madison, age 76, passed away on April 21, 2026. Trauta was born June 24, 1949, daughter of Stan and Myrtle (Ninedorf) Benner. She graduated from LaFollette High School and attended Edgewood College.
Trauta worked for many years at East Madison Clinic and UW Health, where she made many close friends.
Trauta was fun-loving, adventurous, and a prankster. She was a very loyal friend. She often sat with her good friend and neighbor, Sue, on their decks with light-up palm trees (pretending to be on vacation), while watching their dogs play. She made many treasured memories traveling to Mexico and Colorado with her dear friend, Vicki.
Her passion was rescuing and adopting dogs with special medical needs. They were her children (Casey, Woody, Tangie and Jazzemine). She has now joined them over the rainbow bridge.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Stan and Myrtle, her brother Bill, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
We would like to thank her special cousins, Steve and Chris, Ralph and Carol, Bambi, and her dearest friends, Sue, Vicki, Reggie, Terri and Kathy for the love and support you shared with Trauta.
Donations may be made in Trauta’s memory to the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine
A private funeral will be held in Trauta’s honor. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Trauta, thank you for bringing joy to those of us who had the privilege of spending time with you! You are already greatly missed and loved beyond measure.
