Virginia Beth Meharg

With great sadness, the family of Virginia “Ginny” Meharg announces her passing on October 10, 2025, in Madison, Wisconsin.

Born in Antigo, Wisconsin, Ginny was the youngest of six children of William and Margaret Meharg. After graduating from Antigo High School in 1967, she lived in California before settling in Madison, where she worked at the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) for over 34 years, retiring in 2014 as Vice President of Member Support Services.

Ginny was known for her warmth, joyful spirit, and deep love for family and friends. Whether enjoying quiet moments, hosting gatherings, or traveling, she found joy in connection. She especially treasured time at Mayflower Lake and was happiest when surrounded by loved ones.

She is survived by her sisters Patricia Doucette, Phyllis (Harvey) Nelson, Kathleen Parsons, and Sue Meharg; and by nieces and nephews: Jim (Kathie) Babcock, Mary Meharg, Susan (Rick) Joerns, Bill Meharg, Christine (Joe) Mosher, Russell Parsons, Craig (Stacey) Nelson, Kara (Todd) Schwartz, Bill (Jayne) Bonnell, Gordon Purcell, Amanda (John) Lauer, Jenny (Todd) Allen, and Jo McGrath.

Her great-nieces and nephews—Andrew Babcock, Amy (Jarrod) Decker, Shannon (Jake) Nelson, Sarah and Emily Babcock, Ashley and Michael (Kortney) Meharg, Ryan Joerns, Jenn (Zachary) Walrath, Jordan (Tyler) Lang, Jonathan, Jenna and Julia Mosher, Elizabeth (Andrew) Melton, Kyle McCauley, Nick Schwartz, Trent Nelson, Stephanie (David) Dokko, Nicolas (Emily) Lauer, Samantha (Ryan) Seifert, Elizabeth (Richard) Oviatt, Jon (Jas) and Al (Brooke) Bonnell, Max, Paige and Gus Allen, and Gray and Cal McGrath—will remember her for her kindness and the joy she brought to every moment.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Michael Meharg and Mary Purcell; brothers-in-law Kieran (Joe) Purcell, Glen Parsons, and Gary (Duke) Doucette; and nieces and nephews Debra McCauley, Jeff Parsons, Todd Nelson, Terri Bonnell, and Rodney Purcell.

Ginny lived with a generous heart and loved life’s simple pleasures—puzzles, sunsets, and sharing time with others. Her legacy lives on in the love and laughter she gave so freely.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 1–5PM at the East Side Club, 3735 Monona Dr, Madison, WI. In lieu of flowers or donations, honor Ginny by paying it
